Summary and relationship to the curriculum: All classified positions will strengthen the delivery of instruction to support the system mission statement.  This position provides assistance to school staff by monitoring students while dining in the cafeteria. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  1. Supervises students in the cafeteria during meal-times, in serving lines, while eating, and during cafeteria dismissal.

 

  1. Communicates and establishes positive relationships with students, school personnel, and parents.

 

  1. Maintains discipline in the cafeteria according to school and county policies.

 

  1. Reinforces safety rules to students.

 

  1. Reports all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately, or as soon as reasonably possible.

 

  1. Cleans tables and/or supervises students cleaning tables, as needed.

 

  1. Assists students in securing trays, food, seating, and dismissal.

 

  1. Assists cafeteria staff in cleaning up spills.

 

  1. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

 

  1. Complies with and supports regulations and policies.

 

  1. Performs other duties as assigned by principal.

 

 

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

 

  1. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.

 

  1. Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.                     

 

  1. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.

 

  1. Reasoning Ability: Ability to facilitate the problem solving process.  Ability to synthesize options from given facts and assist in the development of solutions to address concerns.

 

  1. Interpersonal Skills: Ability to be a team player, work well with others and receive direction well.  Customer service delivery to students, employees, and public must be excellent.  Ability to creatively interact with students.  Ability to communicate with students, employees, and public courteously.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, climb stairs, and lift.  Occasionally, the employee must crouch or kneel.  The employee must be able to exert or lift up to 30, with occasional lifting of 50 pounds.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
