Reports To: School Nutrition Manager                            Date: November 9, 2004

 

 

 

Summary and relationship to the curriculum: This position will strengthen the delivery of instruction to support the system mission statement. This position implements a standard of performance at each school site lunchroom for ensuring that each customer has the opportunity to enjoy attractive nutritious meals by performing the following duties.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Performs duties of food preparation and related tasks including but not limited to food production, food serving, cashiering, food storage, food safety, dishwashing, and sanitation.

 

  1. Follows all written and verbal instructions as set forth by the School Nutrition Manager or his/her designee.

 

  1. Cooperates with the principal and faculty to make the school nutrition program a part of the total educational experience for children.

 

  1. Works in compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines.

 

  1. Operates all food service equipment correctly and safely.

 

  1. Performs additional duties as assigned by the School Nutrition Manager.

  1. a) Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or GED preferred. Food service experience preferred.

 

  1. b) Certificate or License Required: Completion of Orientation for New Employees (ONE) required within the first year of employment.

 

  1. b) Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions. Follows written and verbal instructions. Must be able to follow and read standardized recipes, safety rules, and equipment operating and maintenance instructions. Communicates effectively with a vast range of people.
  2. c) Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure. Must be able to extend standardized recipes when needed.
  3. d) Reasoning Ability:Must have ability to facilitate the problem solving process, synthesize workable options from given facts and assist in the development of a workable solution to address concerns.
  4. e) Technical Ability: Must be able to operate all institutional food service equipment. Must be able to follow local, state, and federal guidelines.
  5. f) Customer Service Skills: Must be capable of interacting effectively with administrators, teachers, staff members, students, parents, and the general public using tactful and helpful customer service.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, and lift on hard concrete or tile surfaces. The employee must reach, squat, crouch, kneel, bend, twist, push, pull and perform repetitive task with hands, fingers, arms, shoulders and legs on a regular basis.  The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, climb, and balance. The employee must be able to exert or lift up to 50 pounds repetitively, withstand extreme ranges in temperature and humidity levels for long periods of time, and able to work while standing on hard surfaces for long periods of time. The employee will spend time using hands and fingers to grasp, handle, control, feel and assemble objects.

 

Work Environment:

The noise level is high, the temperature ranges from -20 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and the humidity level ranges from moderate to very humid. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electric shock.

Additional Requirement:  Must be at work on time.  Must meet attendance standards.  Must conduct activities safely.
